The Web3 Train
“All Aboard” The Web3 Train is leaving the station and everyone wants in”. Today Mastercard filed 15 NFT/metaverse trademarks and last week the Founder/CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz announced to an audience of 15,000 that Starbucks would be in the NFT/metaverse game in a big way by the end of 2022.
The Mastercard trademark filings include the company’s plans to form a virtual community for interactions with virtual assets, an online marketplace for sellers and buyers of digital merchandise, processing of card payments in the metaverse and virtual reality events.
It is worth noting that American Express has previously filed for their respective NFT and blockchain-related trademarks.
While Visa has been very busy in Web3, including:
– paying $150,000 for a #Cryptopunk NFT
– launching a program to help artists/creators navigate NFTs; and
– submitting a patent application to make its digital currency, and it is now developing a native virtual currency on its card systems.
